Paxton House
Overlooking the beautiful River Tweed, Paxton House lies at the heart of 80 acres of riverside, woodland, parkland and gardens. Visitors can enjoy a variety of walks, woodland trails and an array of wildlife.
There is a croquet lawn and 9 hole putting green as well as lovely picnic areas for when it's time for a bit to eat. Kids will love the two adventure play parks and a range of competitions in the house and grounds.
All of this plus the gift shop, licensed tea room, gallery space and ever changing events calendar makes Paxton House much more than a country house. It's a great day out for everyone.
Bamburgh Castle
Bamburgh Castle is one of Northumberland's most iconic buildings. It stands 150 feet above the coastline overlooking the North Sea, and is visible for many miles. From it's battlements you have outstanding views of the Farne Islands and the Cheviat Hills.
The castle has 14 public rooms and more than 2000 artifacts including arms and armour, furniture and artwork. Lord Armstrong's restoration saved this amazing castle from ruin and provides an ancestral home to the Armstrong family to this day.
There is live archaeology during July and August, complete with a children's dig pit. A tea room and gift shop can also be found on site.
