Dorset is a county of great beauty - a land of contrast and breathtaking scenery. It is one of the maritime counties of Southern England.
The Dorset Coastline extends some 140 kilometres and offers a selection of the finest sandy beaches to be found in the British Isles.
Dorset is frequently described as "The best of both worlds", for behind the varied coastline lies a county rich in archaeology, unspoilt rural villages and countryside.
Some of our favourite family days out in Dorset include:-
Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre
Monkey World is a sanctuary for Apes and Monkeys. At the present time there are 56 Chimpanzees, the largest group outside Africa. They have been rescued from all over the world and here they have been rehabilitated and have a stable and permanent home.
As well as witnessing the fantastic work done here, children can also take advantage of the family friendly facilities. There are play areas, go-carts, woodland walks abd a good choice of cafes and refreshments. On sunny days you can make the most of the outdoor picnic area.
Weymouth Sealife Park
This Dorset attraction provides a unique mix of indoor and outdoor attractions. Prepare to come face to face with Sharks, Otters, Seals, Penguins, Turtles and more - with over 1000 creatures there in total.
If you like to get involved, there is also an "Interactive Rockpool", where you can hold a Crab or touch a Starfish. Fun talks and feeding demonstrations are held throughout the day.
Outdoor areas include mini golf, log flume and a Crocodile Creek play area to keep the little ones entertained.
